Destiny Padilla is a multidisciplinary artist and creator from the Bronx, New York. As a multi genre Nuyorican artist, writer, poet, actress and performer, creative expression is at the forefront of what drives her passion. Destiny utilizes spoken word poetry to fuse her writing, acting, MC/hosting, event curating, teaching, and community organizing. Spirituality, NYC, Women, and Latinx/Indigenous identity are the driving forces behind her work.
In 2018 she embarked on her show hosting passion by becoming the host and curator of Word Masters Poetry showcase. In 2019 she organized and hosted MiCasa Writer's writing workshops, open mics, and
author Q & A's.
Destiny is a 2020 BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) Grant awardee. She has featured at universities, special events, and various venues. She was also the inaugural host of W.O.W! Women Orators Wednesday, an all womxn open mic made for womxn by womxn at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Destiny also is a Typewriter Poet, where she creates typewritten poetry keepsakes for individuals at events. Along with her Poetic and Performing Arts, Padilla is also an Herbalist, Land Steward, and Conscious food advocate. In 2022 she studied on a farm in Puerto Rico, where she learned the art of "Ayurican" (the practice of Ayurveda and Puerto Rican/Taino Indigenous ways of life coined by healer J Tulasi) healing. This solidified and prompted her to continue weaving her ancestral calling and gifts into her art as one holistic practice and experience. You can find her work on Youtube, Instagram, the Spanglish Voces Journal, the Bronx Memoir Project and more.
